How to measure the diameter of circular objects without callipers

If you need to measure the diameter of a circular object and you don't have any callipers to hand the following method can be used, it is simple and should only take 1-3minutes. 

This method can be used if you are trying to raise tables/ chairs with circular legs, and you need to know what diameter to pick for our circular table leg extenders.

Equipment Required:

1. Ruler/ Tape Measure (Steel ruler works best)
2. Two flat ended objects to use as callipers (such as paper back books)

Method:

1. Place the two flat ended objects right up against the circular object/ leg, with their sides parallel to each other.

2. Using your ruler or tape measure, measure the gap between the two flat ended objects.
